About the Resort
Perched on a peninsula with two beaches, each offering a different view, Canonnier is one of the best family resorts in Mauritius. Woven into the legacy of the resort is a little piece of Mauritius’ rich cultural history, blending old and new in innovative, creative ways. Offering an authentic Mauritian atmosphere with commanding views over the northern islands and sparkling Indian Ocean, lush tropical gardens dotted with cascading pools and a string of secluded creeks make this a family favourite. Its close proximity to Grand Bay gives you the option of retail therapy. While it is the choice for the fun-loving fraternity, it’s been built with sheer relaxation in mind and the perfect balance for the ideal holiday. Canonnier is a vibrant resort.

Restaurants & Bars
Le Frangipanier, the hotel’s main restaurant, opens daily for all meals. You don’t have to disconnect from the natural beauty around you while you tuck into freshly prepared island cuisine. Taking full advantage of the historical surroundings that define Canonnier, this open-plan, airy restaurant is charmingly set in a garden near the pool. An extra special feature of this restaurant is the live cooking demonstrations where you can watch the skilled chefs prepare your meal. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served buffet style.
Intimate romance defines this elegant restaurant, with its panoramic views over the island to the north. Open for lunch and dinner, Le Navigator is set apart from the hotel’s main areas. Perched on a rocky promontory, this breath taking venue offers commanding views of the sea and the northern islets. A palm-fringed pathway leads to the restaurant up a grassy slope planted with trees and the colourful flowers of Mauritius. Choose from the delectable specialities on the menu for lunch and dinner.
Open six nights a week for dinner, La Serenata brings a taste of Italy to Canonnier. This small restaurant may share a strategic position with the main restaurant at the heart of the hotel but its private setting is perfect for a romantic occasion. Look forward to a warm, quiet atmosphere tucked away amidst palms and twinkling lights.
LE PLANTEUR BAR
Complete with a library, this bar is the perfect spot for a quiet drink before dinner or a delicious cocktail as you come off the beach. Surrounded by palm trees, Le Planteur Bar is bordered on one side by soothing cascading pools and on the other by the main swimming pool. The bar’s terrace is dotted with a series of parasols to shade diners during the heat of the day.
LE NAVIGATOR BAR
Sip a sundowner in the intimate lighting and elegant surroundings of one of Canonnier’s two signature bars. If you’re well rested enough after a long day on the beach to burn some midnight oil, hit the nightclub after 11pm.

Magical would accurately describe Canonnier’s kids club, which is possibly the most appealing in Mauritius. A unique safari-inspired kids club offers youngsters aged 3 – 11 years a world of fun and entertainment. Kids can broaden their horizons with activities in a generous playground and in a tented village. The Kids Club is the icing on the cake for a perfect holiday for children: a safe place with well trained staff where kids can be independent of their parents in the secure environment of the resort. Baby-sitting services are available on request.
The old lighthouse now serves as a venue for the Teens Club. A range of services and facilities for teens is free of charge. These may include water skiing, trips on glass-bottom boats, pedalo boats, kayaks, snorkelling, football, tennis and volleyball. Like their parents, teens are free to enjoy all the resorts have to offer when it comes to sports and leisure. A specific Teens’ Club programme operates during popular school holiday periods. Special sporting activities and evening gatherings are planned. Excursions may also be offered outside of the resort, visiting places of interest. It’s the perfect opportunity for older kids to socialise and have fun with people of the same age. The complimentary Teens Club app enhances teenager enjoyment of their holiday, by connecting them to other guests of their age. The app offers access to the resort’s schedule of activities and chatting ability to arrange meetings and interact. Teens must meet with the entertainment team and obtain their parents’ consent to download the app, which expires on check out.
